Oils evaporate into the air using a diffuser container, spray, or oil droplets, or breathed in, for example, in a steam bath. Apart from providing a pleasant smell, aromatherapy oils can provide respiratory disinfection, decongestant, and psychological effects. the reason behind these mood changes that after the smell of the volatile aromatic compound reaches your nose, receptors send the message to your brain, and your brain interprets the scent. The sense of smell is most closely related to memories and mood. oils such as papermint, cedar , rosemary or tea tree are commonly used for inhalation therapies.

take-away tip

  • Essential oils are never applied directly to the skin as it’s so powerful , They must always be diluted with a carrier oil. Also because essential oils are not water
  • soluble so carrier oils are providing absorbing characteristics for the skin. Usually, a few drops of essential oil to an ounce of carrier oil is the concentration. Most common carrier oils are sweet almond oil or olive oil.
  • Dilute the essential oil in a carrier oil at twice the concentration you plan to use
  • allergy test should be applied before starting your therapy as the following:
    1-Rub the mixture into an area the size of a quarter on the inside of the forearm
    2-If there is no allergic response within 24 to 48 hours, it should be safe to use. If You/ your client reported developing allergies to essential oils after using them you should stop using it immediately and avoid its smell.
